Music With a Mission
The OKF Gospel Choir is one of the ways The OK Foundation puts its belief into action: that food and music have the power to bring people together and change lives. Since it began, the choir has welcomed singers from across Goff' Oak, Cuffley, Cheshunt, Ware and beyond.
For some members, it's a way back to something they'd lost: their voice, their confidence, a sense of belonging. For others, it's simply somewhere to discover something new or feel less alone. Every rehearsal and every voice added to the harmony is part of the same mission - proving that community, done well, uplifts and connects people.
What Members Say
More than a choir, The OKF Gospel Choir is a community where people are finding joy, forming friendships and creating beautiful music. Very quickly, rehearsals become something people build their week around.
"The best thing I've done in years... it's like medicine for the soul." — Susan
"It makes my heart sing and gives me a big zap." — Heather
"It was the first time I had sung in fifteen years. Hearing my voice again was a wonderful surprise." — Kieran.
“It's really, really amazing. It's such great fun.” — Julie
What If You Feel You Cannot Sing?
You would be surprised how many people start with exactly that thought.
Some members arrive having never sung in a choir before. Others have previous musical experience. Both are equally welcome.
Rehearsals are guided step-by-step by our choir director, helping singers learn songs, harmonies and techniques in a supportive environment.
There are no auditions and no pressure. What matters most is enthusiasm and willingness to join in.
